Role: Administrative Assistant & Teacher
Duration: July 2024 – August 2024 (Short-term Intensive)
As the sole employee of a newly opened English academy in South Korea, I led the "Zero-to-One" digital transformation. My focus was two fold: establishing a high-converting digital presence in a saturated market and building the operational infrastructure required for long-term scalability.
The Problem: A "Blank Slate" in a Competitive Market
Misa 1 Academy was a one-month-old startup with:
- Zero Digital Footprint: No online search presence or social media, resulting in 0 monthly views.
- High Competition: Surrounded by established "mega-academies" with massive marketing budgets.
- Operational Inefficiency: Manual tracking of student progress and lack of standardized teaching materials for new enrollments.
My Actions: The Digital & Operational Overhaul
1. UX/UI & Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Instead of just "posting," I treated the Naver Blog as a functional website to build brand authority.
- Custom Interface Design: I designed a "Homepage-style" blog using custom widgets and image maps. I mapped specific X/Y coordinates to transparent buttons, creating a seamless navigation experience.
- Local SEO (Naver Place): I optimized the academy’s business profile by capturing high-quality interior photos and syncing them with the map and the blog, ensuring parents could find us during local searches.
2. Marketing Science & Process Automation
Leveraging my background in Statistics, I improved the accuracy and efficiency of student assessments.
- VocaTrain Integration: I mastered and implemented an EdTech platform to assign personalized vocabulary goals to students via mobile/tablet apps.
- Automated Assessment Tool: Finding the platform's default testing system inadequate, I built a custom Google Spreadsheet automation tool that generated randomized vocabulary tests and grading sheets, saving 3+ hours of manual work weekly.

3. Sustainability & Leadership (SOP)
To ensure the academy's success after my return to the US, I focused on knowledge transfer.
- The Misa 1 Manual: I authored a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual detailing how to manage the blog, use the EdTech software, and run the automated test tools.
The Results: Impact Beyond My Stay
Immediate Growth: Increased monthly digital views from 0 to 500 within the first 30 days.
Operational Longevity: The blog UI and the management systems I built are still in active use today, nearly two years after my departure.
Scalability: Provided the infrastructure that allowed the academy to grow from its initial 3 students to a thriving, larger student body.
